April 4, 1958 — September 3, 2025

Lancaster

James McManus, 67, of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Born on April 4, 1958, he was the son of James W. McManus and the late Margie McManus. James lived a life full of love, laughter, and the simple joys that meant the most to him.

James was a man who found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether it was casting a line on a quiet day of fishing or simply enjoying nature, he cherished those moments of stillness. Known for his easy-going and laid-back spirit, he brought a sense of calm and kindness to everyone around him. Above all, James was a devoted father and grandfather, who loved his children and grandchildren with every ounce of his being. His family was his pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

He is survived by his six children, including Jared McManus (April) of Mt. Crogan, Justin McManus of Lancaster, Courtney McCaskill (Joseph) of Cassatt, and Amanda McManus (Aaron) of Taxhaw, along with two children who wish to remain private. He also leaves behind his father, James W. McManus of Lancaster; his aunt, Shirley King of Rock Hill; two brothers, David McManus of Lancaster and Johnny McManus (Sheila) of Lancaster; as well as many nieces and nephews. James was also blessed with 14 beloved grandchildren who will carry on his memory with love.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Terry McNaughton McManus; his mother, Margie McManus; his brother, Michael “Mikey” McManus; and his uncle, John King.
James will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, lived gently, and left a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love that will continue through his family and all who knew him.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of donations, contributions may be made to any veteran or Masonic organization in James’s honor. Floral arrangements may be sent to the home of his daughter, Courtney.
