Jerome P. Phelan

Graveside services for Mr. Jerome ?Jerry? Phelan, Sr. will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 4pm at Southlawn Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Mr. Phelan, 85, of Aiken, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at his residence.

Born in Elkport, IA, he was the son of the late James D. and Catherine Sophia Kregel Phelan. He lived in Spartanburg, SC and various Army bases before moving to Aiken in 1964. He served in the US Army during WWII and then retired as a Sergeant after twenty years of service as a gun crewman, and heavy artillery operator. He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass Plant in the lab.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Faye Boyd Phelan, brother, James Phelan, He is survived by his daughter, Paula Cato and husband Charles, Eureka, SC, son, Jerome P. Phelan, Jr., Augusta, sister, Donna Weatherford, grandchildren, Charles Cato, Jr., Christopher Cato, Alex Bafford, Jordan Cato, and great grandchild, Mason Cato.
