Jo An King

A memorial service for Mrs. Jo An King will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 10:30am at the chapel of St. John's United Methodist Church, Aiken. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Memorial donations may be directed to YMCA Camp Greenville. 601 E. Mrs. King, 76, of Aiken, entered into eternal rest on March 26, 2010 at her residence.

A daughter of the late Charles and Mary Swope, she was born on December 25, 1933 in Pursglove, WV and had lived in Morgantown, WV before moving to Aiken fifty years ago.

Mrs. King graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in medical technology and before retiring in the mid 1970's, had been the head of the clinical laboratory at the former Aiken County Hospital. Mrs. King was a stained glass artist and owner of Glass Images by Jo An King. She created stained glass windows for Trinity United Methodist Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lighthouse Baptist Church, St. Mary Help of Christians School, the Aiken Community Playhouse and numerous private homes in and around Aiken.

Mrs. King is survived by her husband, Franklin King, Aiken; a daughter, Mary King Gregory, Aiken and a son, Charles Gregory King, Whitwell, TN. She is also survived by three grandchildren, William Samuel Gregory, Lane Michelle Gregory Hanks Vincent and Michael Jonathon Gregory King.
