Joan Temples Lewis, 88, of Batesburg, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, surrounded by family following a brief illness. She was born in Bartow, Georgia, a daughter of the late Johnnie Seibron Temples and Ruth Eskew Temples. Mrs. Joan graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School where she was a star basketball player.
Mrs. Joan was married to her beloved husband Bobby for 53 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Batesburg until Covid and then continued to worship faithfully at home. Her four main passions were faith, family, friends and her fighting Gamecocks. Nothing pleased her more than Carolina games and family gatherings.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; brother, John Temples; and sisters, Ethel Shamlin, Grace Geddes, and Irene Temples. Mrs. Joan is survived by her daughters, Debbie Moses (Steve), Tisa Lewis; son, John Lewis (Laurie); grandchildren, Courtney Quattlebaum Carreiro, Lindsey Quattlebaum Culley (Tim), Alex Moses (Mary Grace), Brittney Fulmer, Andy Longshore (Lindsay); great grandchildren, Rowan Lewis Carreiro, Harper Lewis Culley, Hudson Lewis Culley, Doug Fulmer, Carolyn Bradburn, Lainey Longshore, Evan Longshore; and family friend, Heather Ferguson.
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Joan will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 29th at First Baptist Church of Batesburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org), Oliver Gospel (olivergospel.org), or Pawmetto Lifeline (pawmettolifeline.org).
