Lexington

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John G. Goeb Sr., 91, of Lexington, who passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late John Goeb and Anna Wagner.

Mr. Goeb was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived a life centered on love for his family. He shared 70 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Kathryn M. Goeb. He dedicated 36 years of service to Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, Maryland, and was known for his strong work ethic and kindness to all he encountered. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, unwavering love and support, distinctive sense of fashion, and, most importantly, his deep devotion to his family’s happiness.

He is survived by his loving wife; children, John G. Goeb Jr. (Grace) of Summerville, South Carolina, Dawn L. Wilkinson (Jim) of Lexington, South Carolina, and Laura L. Thomas (Steve) of York, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Jessica L. Bay (Aaron) of Colorado, Ryan Goeb, Ashley Goeb, Cameron Wilkinson, Mason Wilkinson, and Regan Wilkinson, all of South Carolina; and three great-grandchildren, Liam Bay, Ava Bay, and Nora Bay, all of Colorado. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn M. Cammarata.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date, with an announcement forthcoming. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mr. Goeb’s memory to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
