Johnny Mabus

November 12, 1940 — January 27, 2022

Johnny Mabus, 81, of Batesburg, SC passed away on January 27, 2022. Born on November 12, 1940 in Saluda County, Johnny was one of eight children of the late John Radie and Ruth Waters Mabus. Johnny was married to Nancy Gregory Mabus and together they had two children; his beloved son, John Ashley Mabus (Connie) of Leesville, SC and beloved daughter, Wymberly Kay Steele (Mark) of Frisco, TX.

In addition to his son and daughter, he is also survived by granddaughters, Amberly Biberstein, Presley Mabus and Abigail Biberstein; grandsons, Radie Mabus and Grant Biberstein (Lysette); and great grandson, Bryson Biberstein; his twin brother, Tommy Mabus (Patricia) and baby brother, Robert Mabus (June); sisters, Ramona Hallman (Dan), Kay Shirey (Mike), Dorothy Minick (Duane) and Gail Davidson (Walter). In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Trotter (Billy).

Johnny will always be remembered as Papa to his grandchildren and will be missed dearly by them and his children. Ashley and Wymberly feel they could never had a better father. Whether it was camping at the beach, in the mountains, or grilling out in the backyard, Papa always made time for his family.

Over the course of his lifetime, Johnny was co-owner and operator of Mabus Brothers Construction in Augusta, GA with his twin brother, Tommy and later with Mabus Construction with his son, Ashley. His legacy lives on in the many projects he helped complete both in South Carolina and Georgia.

This is not goodbye, it is till we see you again dad. We love you so much. Where there is great love there is also great loss.
