Joseph Lowe

Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Lowe will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 2pm at Chime Bell Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Fleetwood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5-7 pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken. Mr. Lowe, 83, of New Ellenton, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Westwood Nursing Center, Evans, GA.

Mr. Lowe was born in Aiken County, SC to the late Chester and Laura Heath Lowe. Joseph was a life long resident of Aiken County and for the past forty years a resident of New Ellenton. Mr. Lowe was a member, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and song leader for many years at Chime Bell Baptist Church. Mr. Lowe served his community as a Water Works Commissioner in New Ellenton and as a president of the Lions Cub in New Ellenton. Joseph loved his family and his Lord and worked tirelessly in his church all his life.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowe was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Lowe, sisters, Deloris Lowe Davidson, Dolly Lowe Budnaitis, and Emma Lowe Knight. Mr. Lowe is survived by his wife of sixty years, Bessie Lybrand Lowe, son, Joseph Wayne Lowe, Rochester, MN, daughter, Pamela Ann Steven Beacham, Evans, GA, sister, Alice Massey, Augusta, brother, Richard Henry Lowe, Aiken, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
