Joyce Margaret Eden

AIKEN, SC – Joyce Margaret Eden, age 80, entered into rest Thursday, April 30, 2020 at her residence surrounded by family.

Margaret, as she was affectionately known, was born February 27, 1940 in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Malcom J. Holder and the late Emma Adell West Holder. She was an area resident for the past fifty-four years and was a member of Warrenville Church of God where she enjoyed cooking for the church family. She also enjoyed working with the food bank and shopping at thrift stores.

Margaret was a Gold Star member as her first husband was Killed in Action during the Vietnam War. She was also preceded in death by her son, Johnny Ray Phillips.

Survivors include two sons, Clayton Arthur Phillips and Tony Ray Phillips (Donna), both of Aiken, SC; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Pearlie Mae Bowden, Sanford, NC, Iva Lee Lucas, Wilmington, NC, Rebecca Ilene Norris, Coates, NC, and Linda Lue Bradley, Irwin, NC.

Friends may call on Sunday, May 3, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at George Funeral Home in downtown Aiken. Social distancing will be enforced. 10 people will be permitted into the viewing parlor at a time. Please enter the building via the Chapel doors.

Funeral services, with social distancing, will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Warrenville Church of God with The Rev. Dr. Robert W. Skelton Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Calvin Spires, Harvey Stone, Dillon Stone, Andy Smith, Ernie Lucas, and Philip Spires.
