Joyce Ergle, 84, of Aiken, SC, entered into rest on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Born on July 23, 1941, in Union, SC, she was the eldest daughter of the late William Charles and Ruth “Bootsie” Padgett Haile. From an early age, Mrs. Ergle had a heart for caring for children, finding joy in nurturing not only the little ones in her own family but also the many children she taught and loved through her Sunday School classes.
Growing up in a musical family, Mrs. Ergle cherished singing alongside her sisters, who were affectionately known as the “Haile’s Bells.” As the devoted wife of a Baptist minister, she faithfully supported her husband’s ministry, always ready to serve others, share a kind word, or lift her voice in praise. For more than 25 years, Mrs. Ergle dedicated her professional life to Aiken County, serving as Deputy Director of the Register of Mesne Conveyance. She was a devoted member of Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken, where her faith and compassion touched many lives.
Following her husband’s passing, Mrs. Ergle returned to her beloved hometown of Jonesville, SC, to live with her sister Carol, where she spent her later years enjoying the beauty of “God’s country.” Above all, her greatest joy in life was her grandson, Channing, who filled her days with laughter, pride, and love beyond measure.
Surviving are her daughters, Ramona Bertram (Jamie) of Dillon, SC, and Stephine Krebs (Chris) of Aiken, SC; grandson, Channing T. Ergle of Florence, SC; sisters, Carol Fowler, Melissa Gossett (Marion "Brother"), and Donna Addis (Darrell "Pango") all of Jonesville, SC; and many extended family members. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ergle was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Ramon Ergle; and a brother-in-law, Paul Fowler.
The funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Ergle's life will be held at 1 o'clock on Wednesday, November 12th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Aiken Chapel, with Rev. K. Scott Ayers officiating. A private burial will be held at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12 o'clock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Agape Care Group, Dillion Office, 200 West Harrison St, Suite D, Dillion, SC 29536.
