Kathy M. Johnson

Kathy M. Johnson, 74, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2026. Born on December 20, 1951, in Darlington, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Luther Miles and Bessie Mae Hornsby. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose love for her family was evident in everything she did.

A homemaker throughout her life, Mrs. Johnson found joy in the simple pleasures that brought people together. She loved playing crochet, spending time with family over a good cup of coffee, and making cherished memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She especially enjoyed visits to the coast, with Beaufort, South Carolina, holding a special place in her heart as her favorite beach destination.

Kathy was a faithful member of South Aiken Baptist Church and lived her life guided by unwavering faith and resilience. As a child, she courageously battled and survived polio, a challenge that helped shape the strength and determination that would define her throughout her life. She was the last surviving member of the Johnson and Miles families, carrying with her the treasured memories and legacy of those who came before her.

Surviving her daughter, Christy J. Allen; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Faith Solis (Miguel), Zachary Blake Allen, and Evelyn Grace Allen; great-grandchild, Madelynne Kay Solis; and a host of extended family members. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Donnie R. Johnson; son, Jody Donald Johnson; son-in-law, David E. Allen, Jr.; sister, Faye Massebeau; and brother-in-law, Tommy Massebeau.

The graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Johnson's life will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Southlawn Cemetery, 4524 Whiskey Rd, Aiken, SC 29803, with pastor Trevor Lightbody officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10 until 11 a.m., at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Historic Aiken Chapel, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801.
