Kayla Michelle Dickerson

Kayla Michelle Dickson, 33, of Leesville, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Born on October 7, 1992, in West Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Teresa Edwards and Mark Dickerson. Kayla was of the Baptist faith and was known for her kind heart, determination, and deep love for her family. While life presented her with many struggles, she faced them with strength and resilience. Those who knew Kayla will remember her as someone who always found a way to figure things out on her own and was willing to help others whenever she could.

More than anything, Kayla loved her children and cherished the time she spent with them. She enjoyed searching for treasures at yard sales and Goodwill stores, loved cooking, especially making casseroles for family and friends, and in her younger years spent many happy days jet skiing on Lake Wateree. Kayla was also a talented writer who proudly published six books, leaving behind a creative legacy that reflected her imagination and dedication.

Surviving are her parents, Teresa Edwards (step-father, Ron Riggs) and Mark Dickerson; children, Karston, Dallas, Kyler, Daison, and Kazley; brother, Chris Schumpert (Gianna); sister, Mary Edwards. She is also survived by her nieces, Brooklyn Steen, Natalie Steen, and Nyla Schumpert; nephew, Blake Steen; aunts, Tammy Barret (Terry) and Chantel Stafford; uncle, Carl Scott Edwards (Jennifer); and maternal grandmother, Evelyn Edwards and paternal grandmother, Judy Gwen. She was preceded in death by her uncles, Michael Edwards and William Edwards.
