Kevin Michael Healey

August 1, 1957 — July 5, 2025

Kevin Michael Healey, age 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts on August 1, 1957, Kevin spent his early and middle years in Maine, where he started a family and built a life rooted in love, craftsmanship, and the natural beauty of the rocky coastlines, and mountain ranges that surrounded him. In later years, he settled in Graniteville, South Carolina, where he continued living a life full of love, laughter, faith, and hands-on creativity.

Kevin’s life was a rich tapestry woven with family, service, and passion. A dedicated carpenter by trade, he found immense joy in the art of creating with his hands. Whether through wood carving, drawing, painting, or sculpting, Kevin had a remarkable ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. His meticulous nature and artistic talent also shone through in his cherished hobbies of coin collecting, antiques restoration, and fishing—activities he enjoyed sharing with those he loved.

Kevin proudly served his country as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army, stationed in Alaska, a time he recalled with great fondness and pride. His unwavering commitment to his nation was only matched by his lifelong devotion to his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Elizabeth Adele Healey, whose love was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they nurtured and raised a family grounded in care, creativity, and compassion. Kevin is lovingly remembered by his sons: Jacob Healey of Gainesville, Florida; and Zachary Healey and his wife Erin of Graniteville, South Carolina. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter, Desirea-Rose, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Kevin leaves behind his siblings: Brendan Healey and his wife Lois of Bangor, ME; Jennifer Madairy and her husband Danny of Leesburg, FL; Sharon Gioioso and her husband Paul of Weymouth, MA; Danielle Sigmon and her husband John of Branchport, NY; Susan Healey and her wife Hayley of Holbrook, MA. He was also deeply loved by his stepmother, Sylvia Healey of Leesburg, FL.

Kevin’s extended family was a vital part of his life. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Zalana Brown of Shapleigh, ME, Shaleen McWhirk and her husband Andrew of Acton, ME, Shanaseth Boston of Mount Joy, PA, Aaron Healey and his wife Jill of Bangor, ME, Kasey Carlston and her husband Scott of Lancaster, CA, and Ethan & Austin Gauvreau (great-nephews) of Shapleigh, ME. His great-nephew Louis Ryder Healey, son of Aaron and Jill, also survives him.

Kevin shared a deep and enduring bond with the Boston side of the family, who lovingly welcomed him as one of their own. He is remembered by his brothers-in-law Joel Boston and his wife Chris of Las Vegas, NV, and by Denise Pieper Boston of Palmdale, CA, whose lasting place in the family meant the world to Kevin. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Ron Boston (who introduced Kevin to Elizabeth) of Sanford, ME and Rick Boston of Sanford, ME, and by his nephew Nick Boston of Lancaster, CA, son of Joel and Denise. Kevin is also fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law’s mother, Lynn Wilkerson of North Augusta, SC (née Bennett), as well as the Wilkerson & Bennett Family as a whole.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Phyllis Healey of Weymouth, MA; his son, Douglas Healey of Sanford, ME; and several beloved in-laws including Tony Wilkerson, the late husband of Lynn Wilkerson, and extended family members whose memories he held close to his heart.

Throughout his life, Kevin was blessed with many loyal and loving friends. Among those closest to him were Sam Welch and his wife Jan of Sanford, ME, and their daughters Angie Phillips (and her husband Randy) of Sanford, ME and Michelle Stern (and her husband Chris); Donald Provencher and his late wife Crystal Webber of Sanford, ME; Shawn Pierce and his wife Ashlyn, and their son Carter, Kevin’s great Godson; Rick and Sue Hurst of Maine; Brian Johnson of Maine; and Bob Matthews of Maine.

The Healey family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Lung Transplant Team at UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. In particular, they thank Dr. Tiago Machuca, the skilled surgeon who gave Kevin a second chance at life with a double lung transplant in 2019, and Michele Wight, Kevin’s lifelong transplant coordinator and a very dear friend to the Healey family. The Healey family also would like to give their deepest gratitude to the family of the late Jacquez Welch, whose lungs were donated to Kevin.

A special thanks is also extended to the compassionate staff at Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801, (803) 649-6234.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to the Lifelink Foundation, the organization that provided Kevin with the gift of life by making his lung transplant possible.

As we remember Kevin, let us celebrate a life lived with kindness, creativity, humility, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide all who had the privilege to know and love him.
