Memorial services for Mr. Leach S. McCormick Jr. will be held on Friday, April 27, 2007 at 2 pm at St. John's United Methodist Church with Dr. Rev. George Howle officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John's Debt Reduction Fund, 104 Newberry Street, NW, Aiken, SC, 29801.

Mr. McCormick, 78, of Aiken, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Son of the late Leach S. and Virginia Mercer McCormick, he was born and raised in Orangeburg, SC and retired to Aiken in 1988. Mr. McCormick graduated from Clemson University in 1950 with a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and retired in 1988 from the old Westinghouse Electric Corp. after 36 years of service in the Power Equipment Division. He served in the US Navy immediately after WWII. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the choir, and the Aiken Senior Men's Club. He was a member and past president of the Methodist Men and Lions Club. He delivered meals for Aiken Area Council on Aging and worked as an income tax volunteer for AARP. As a teen, Mr. McCormick was a paper carrier for the Times and Democrat and graduated from Orangeburg High School, where he was a member of the orchestra and band. He loved his family and was a servant leader in his community.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Ann Johnson McCormick and brothers Richard and Leslie McCormick. He is survived by his wife Dink Looney McCormick, his sister Audrey McCormick Pace husband J.C. of Orangeburg, SC, his sons and their wives, Bruce Barbara of Granite Bay, CA, Steve Molly of Atlanta, GA, and David Lanch of North Haven, CT, his daughter Angie McCormick of Portland, OR, his step children, Bruce Looney of Denver, Co, and Cynthia Smith of Aiken, and his eight grandchildren.
