Leila Prater Corder went home to her Lord and “her” Price on September 23, 2018. Born in Batesburg, she was the daughter of the late Barney B. & Mattie Prater of Batesburg. Leila was predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, Price Timmerman Corder and her sister Freddie Long who was a special part of her daily life.
Surviving is a daughter, Alashea Markley (Marc Peele) of North, SC and a brother whom she loved like a son, Phillip Prater of Las Vegas, NV. Known as Mama “C” to one grandson, Chandler Markley (Emily) of Lexington, SC; one granddaughter, Jamie Markley Buckland (David) of Irmo, SC; she also leaves three great-grandsons, Peyton, Brandon & Tony; along with her devoted niece, Kim Cochcroft and many other loved nieces and nephews. Lastly, she leaves her best friend, Betty Floyd Shealy. Much love and appreciation to her extended family, Mark & Becky McCravy, Brandy & Jason Gamble, Bella & Jasper, Helen, Trina, Tonia & George who cared for her while she lived in North.
There ae too many to list from the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg that made her life comfortable and entertaining. You know who you are if you dressed her, selected the perfect jewelry, found the appropriate of lipstick while talking and laughing with her. There were housekeepers who read devotions to her; some C.N.A.’s and nurses who treated her like their grandmother and Patty the hairdresser who handled her weekly spoiling. Her favorite topics of conversation were Batesburg-Leesville and “her” Price.
