Lena Sue Witt Williamson, 93, of Jackson, SC, entered into rest on September 8, 2026. She was born on October 17, 1932, in the rural area of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, to the late Britt Albert and Mary Hedgecock Witt.
Lena Sue, known to all as Sue, grew up in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee near the town of Tellico Plains. She graduated high school and attended Kings College in Bristol, Tennessee, before she, her parents, and her brother Willis decided to seek new job opportunities. The family left the mountains of Tennessee and moved to Jackson, SC, where Britt began working in forestry, clearing land around the former community of Silverton, an area taken over by the government during the construction of the Savannah River Plant.
Upon arriving in Jackson, Sue took a job as a clerk at Brinkley’s Grocery Store. She later married the love of her life, Loron Williamson, and remained in Jackson for the rest of her life. Together, they welcomed five children: three daughters and two sons—Mary Lois, Leonard, Laura, Gary, and Lydia. Above all, Sue adored her family. She will be remembered for her warm and welcoming spirit and her unwavering faith. She was a true follower of Jesus Christ and lived with the blessed assurance that her eternal home was secure. She is now reunited with the love of her life.
Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Laura Jane Williamson (Keith); son, Gary Loron Williamson; daughter, Lydia Sue Williamson; granddaughter, Heather Rae Williamson (Melissa); grandson, Corey Jacob Williamson (Angel); and great‑grandsons, Bentley and Ryker. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Loron Williamson; three brothers; her daughter, Mary Lois Williamson, and her husband, Bill Russ; her son, Leonard DeWitt Williamson; and her grandsons, Brian and Cody.
The family would like to thank Michele Bunker and Charmaine Williams, as well as Loron and Sue’s neighbors, for their care, love, and support over the past few years.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, September 13, at 3:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, SC, with Pastor Donald Prosser officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be: Andy Chapman, Sean Falcon II, John Hernlen, Steve Large, Mike Syms, and Oliver Williamson.
