Leonard Wayne Heyward, 67, of Ninety Six, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026.
Born in Prosperity, he was a son of the late L.W. Heyward and Cleola Wilson Heyward. Wayne was self-employed for many years, working in the cable and lawn irrigation industries. In his free time, he enjoyed watching wrestling and racing and was an especially devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy Summer Heyward; his daughter, Heather Turner; grandson, David Turner; brothers, Allen Heyward (Tina) and Terry Hook (Connie); nieces, Nikki Heyward and Tara Hook; nephews, Dean Heyward (Crystal) and T.J. Hook; and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Wade Heyward
The graveside service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held at 3 o'clock on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Travis Crumpton and Mr. Dean Heyward officiating. The family will greet friends at the graveside following the service. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is assisting the family of Mr. Heyward.
