Lori Register Norris, 65, formerly of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, and most recently of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
If you knew Lori, you knew three things about her right away: she loved Jesus, she loved her family, and she loved flowers. Those loves shaped the way she lived her life and touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a contagious laugh, a beautiful smile, and a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and special. Whether she was sharing her faith, spending time with those she loved, tending to her flowers, or dancing whenever the opportunity arose, Lori brought warmth and joy wherever she went.
Lori was born on December 22, 1960, in Marianna, Florida, to Ted and Jackie Register. Not long after, the family settled in Monticello, Florida, where she spent her childhood surrounded by the love of her parents and siblings, Steven, Melissa, and Lynn. Her father faithfully served the community as a barber for more than fifty years, while her mother devoted herself to creating a loving home and caring for her family. Together, they built a foundation of faith, love, and hard work that Lori carried with her throughout her life.
The Register family attended the United Methodist Church in Monticello, where Lori's faith began to take root and grow. It was also there that one of the family's favorite stories began. In 1978, while Lori was attending a youth group gathering, a young man named Jerry happened to drive by. As the story has been lovingly told for years, that was the last he ever saw of his heart. What began with a glance grew into a love story that would span a lifetime.
Lori and Jerry were married on October 18, 1980, beginning a partnership built on faith, devotion, friendship, and unwavering love. Together they welcomed their daughter, Stacie, in 1982 and, six years later, their son, Jerrad. Lori took great pride in her family and found her greatest joy in being a wife and mother. Later, she was blessed with two grandsons, Braxton and Levi, who brought even more laughter, love, and light into her life.
A lifelong learner and dedicated professional, Lori earned her degree in accounting and spent her career working in the accounting field. She approached her work with the same integrity, dependability, and care that she brought to every area of her life.
Yet no title ever meant more to Lori than Child of God. She was a devoted woman of faith whose life reflected her beliefs not only in what she said but in how she treated people. She was a faithful friend, a loving sister, a devoted wife, and a steady source of encouragement to those around her. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel important and loved. Her smile could brighten a room, and her laughter often did.
In recent years, Lori faced a long battle with dementia. The disease gradually took much from her, but it never took her smile or her love of dancing. Even through difficult days, the warmth that defined her life continued to shine through. Her courage, grace, and enduring spirit remained evident to all who loved her.
Lori leaves behind a legacy far greater than any accomplishment. It is found in the faith she shared, the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched with kindness and love. Though she will be deeply missed, those who knew her carry forward the lessons she taught, the joy she spread, and the example she set.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Savior she loved so dearly. And while her earthly garden has been left behind, the seeds of faith, love, and grace she planted in the hearts of others will continue to bloom for generations to come.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Jerry Norris; children, Stacie Epling (Wayne) and Jerrad Norris (Lindsey); and grandchildren, Braxton and Levi. She is also survived by her siblings, Steven Register (Cynthia), Melissa Carpenter (Kevin), and Lynn Goff, along with many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Jackie Register.
A memorial service celebrating Lori's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock.
