Loron McLeonard Williamson, 96, of Jackson, SC, entered into rest August 16, 2026. He and his twin sister, Sadie Lois, were born on December 18, 1929, in the rural area of Andalusia, Alabama to the late Jake Leonard and Lois McCary Pittman Williamson.
He joined the US Army after graduating from high school and spent four years in Germany as a Military Policemen/Highway Patrolman before returning to the states. Upon returning, he visited his brother Ollie in Jackson, SC where he accepted a job at the Savannah River Plant and met his future wife where she was working as a clerk in a local grocery store. He spent the remainder of his life in Jackson with the love of his life where they raised five children. Loron spent 22 years in the US Army and South Carolina National Guard where he acquired the rank of Master Sergeant before his retirement from the military. He also spent 39 years at the Savannah River Site as an electrician & supervisor before his retirement in 1993. Among his positions in his spare time he served on the Jackson Town Council, as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 732 and as the Music Director at Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years where he and his wife were charter members of the church. Loron enjoyed farming and was a fixer of almost anything broken. An avid Alabama and Auburn fan, he was always quick to give you a call when they beat your favorite team. Above all, Loron adored his family. He loved people and could carry on a good conversation with anyone. Loron will be remembered for his warm and welcoming spirit and unwavering faith. He was a true follower of Jesus Christ and lived with the assurance that his eternal home was secure.
Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of more than 70 years, Lena Sue Witt Williamson; daughters, Laura Jane Williamson (Keith) and Lydia Sue Williamson; and his son, Gary Loron Williamson. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Heather Rae Williamson (Melissa); grandson, Corey Jacob Williamson (Angel); and great grandsons, Bentley and Ryker. In addition to his parents, Loron was preceded in death by his eight brothers and sisters; a daughter, Mary Lois Williamson and her husband, Bill Russ; a son, Leonard DeWitt Williamson; his grandsons, Brian and Cody
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Aiken Chapel.
The family would like to thank Michele Bunker and Charmaine Williams as well as Loron and Sue’s neighbors for their care and love in taking care and providing for them over the past few years.
