It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Loy McClain Mitcham Sr., who left us in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 8th, 2024, at the age of 56 at his residence following a brief illness.

Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on Friday, June 14th, 1968, he was the son the late Donald Wilson Mitcham and Louise McClain Mitcham of Aiken.

Loy was a dedicated family man and in addition to his mother he leaves behind his companion, Katherine M. Jones of Hopkins. He was a proud father to three sons: Skyler McClain Mitcham of Aiken, Loy McClain Mitcham of Statesboro, GA, and Devin Clark Mitcham of Statesboro, GA. Loy's legacy will live on through his grandchildren, Raiden, Ira, Ezra, Charlie, and DJ. He leaves behind his brother, Marvin Edward Mitcham II of Aiken.

A talented musician, Loy was the lead singer of the band Legion and brought his vocal talents to life as an opera singer at the Coker Center in Columbia. He was trained through the South Carolina Governor's School of the Arts in Greenville. Throughout his life, Loy combined his passion for music with his role as a diligent supervisor, successfully balancing his career and his love for the arts.
