Marian Oswald Padgett

December 1, 1936 — January 19, 2021

Marian Oswald Padgett of Batesburg Leesville SC, affectionately known as “Jiggs” and “Mammie”, 84 years old, died January 19, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Henry Albert and Lizzie Mae Oswald.
Marian is survived by her children, Sharon (Kenny) Padgett, Marcia (Dennis) Padgett, Ginger (Alan) Harmon all of Batesburg-Leesville; her grandchildren, Stephanie Wash (Bob) Carter, Denver (Tristin) Padgett, Macey Padgett, Langley (Daniel) Patterson, Hannah (Austin) Jumper, Avery Wash (Maddie King, fiancé); great grandchildren, Ensley, Sophie and Lizzie Paterson, Lyla Rose and Hampton Padgett, Eleanor Carter and Cora Jumper. Also surviving are her sister-in-loves, Joann Caldwell, Kay Little, Barbara (Robert Wayne) Fulmer and Bob Gantt; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonardo “Knot” Padgett; son, Clinton Lee Roy Padgett; a grandson, Eli Caleb Padgett; and her siblings, Jessie (Barney Miller), Henry (Margie) Oswald, Janis “Bill” (J.B.) Gantt, Milford (Joyce) Oswald, Winnifred “Winkie” (Chalmus) Gantt, Christine (Tony) Cofer, Mary (MJ) Hallman, Roscoe (Jean) Oswald, Lowell “Koon” Oswald, Dana Lee Oswald and Marilyn Gantt.
Marian was born December 1, 1936 and graduated from Wagener High School. She was employed by Union Switch and Signal and as a Poultry Farmer for Amick Farms. Marian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Leesville, where she was devoted to serving the Lord and the ministry of her church in a variety of roles. Most known for her years of service in the Preschool Ministry, a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and her love for feeding her church family. Her home was an open door for all who entered and they were met with love, compassion and food. Her friends were her family.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, January 22nd , at First Baptist Church of Leesville with burial in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with the Rev. Charles Leonhardt and Rev. Milford Oswald, Jr. officiating. Active pallbearers will be, Milford Oswald Jr., Carlton Oswald, Delphin Gantt, Glenn Gantt, Steve Hallman, Jenkie Oswald and Rodney Oswald. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church of Leesville and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. All are welcome to attend and celebrate. Please exercise your best judgement in attending and as to not jeopardize your own family’s health and well-being. Mask and social distancing are encouraged.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 21, at First Baptist Church of Leesville, and other times at the Pond Pool House, 230 Dickert Drive, Batesburg, SC 29006.
The family respectfully request in lieu of flowers a memorial to First Baptist Church of Leesville, 264 Main Street, Leesville, SC 29070.
The family would also like to extend their gratitude to her life long friend Shirley Shealy and her caregiver Ruby Jones as their love and support was never taken for granted and for that we thank you and we love you.
