Martin William Burgess

Martin William Burgess, 66, of Pelion, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Mr. Burgess was born in Richland County, a son of the late Marson Mautel Burgess, Sr. and Mildred Louellen Snipes Burgess. He loved the Lord, watching wrestling and westerns, going fishing and spending time with his family, especially his nephew and heart, Shane Dial and friend Mike Rucker.

Surviving are his sister, Louellen Lapp (Norm); nephew, Shane Dial; niece, Sherry Eargle (Jeffrey); and great nephews, Jonathan and Wade Eargle (Natalie). Also surviving are his half brothers, Billy Burgess (Carolyn), Steve Burgess (Charlotte), Dale Burgess (Dianne), Sandy Burgess (Caron); half sisters, Marlene Moon and Vonnie Rankin; and many extended nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marson Mautel Burgess, Jr. and Joseph Burgess; and a half-sister, Gwendolyn Matthews.

A graveside service for Mr. Burgess will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 9th, at King Grove Baptist Church cemetery, 1580 US-178, Swansea, with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
