Mary Lou Barnes

Mary Lou Barnes, 74, of Batesburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Saluda Nursing Home in Saluda, SC. She spent many years working at Amick's Poultry.

She is survived by her husband, William H. “Billy” Barnes; children, Nancy and Jeff Kinard; and three stepchildren, Phyllis Gunter, Tracy Barnes, and Beth Oswald (Nelson). Mary was blessed with a large and loving family that included fifteen great-grandchildren. One great-grandchild, Bubba Hall, who shared a special bond with Mary and Billy, spending many cherished moments with them over the years.

Mary was one of 11 children born to the late Pinekney and Betty Lou Floyd, that included six sisters: Tonya Miller, Tonya Reed, Joanne Davis, Nancy Bazen, Regina Ayers, and Renee Dennis; and four brothers: Stark “Peanut” Floyd (Wanda), Charles Miller, Eric Miller, and Vernon Flowers.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sawyer and his staff for the compassionate care they provided to Mary.
