Mary Frances Steele Matthews

Mary Frances Steele Matthews, 89, of Batesburg, SC, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 14, 2020. She was a native of Saluda county and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Judy (Rocky) Price, Truett (Patricia) Matthews and Lora Matthews; grandchildren, Bradley (Lynn) Smith, Chris (Joy) Smith, Kevin Smith, Kimberly Matthews, Hope (Glenn) Wheeler, Nick (Cindy) Matthews, Melanie Tuttle; 21 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Matthews was one of 17 children and is survived by two brothers and one sister.

She was preceded by her parents, Eddie and Ethel Storey Steele; husband, Peter Adkins Matthews; and a granddaughter, Crystal Lea Hallman.

The family will be at the home of Truett and Patricia Matthews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, March 15, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 16, at Sardis Baptist Church with interment in Billy Matthews Cemetery with Rev. Mike Bell officiating. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sardis Baptist Church.
