Mary Edith Jones

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Edith Jones will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 11am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: David Jones, Chip Jones, Tony Jones, Jeff Jones, Kelly Jones, Denis Soper. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of South Carolina, 946 Millbrook Ave # A, Aiken, SC 29803-0610.

Mrs. Jones, 84, of Aiken, died Sunday, September 13, 2009 at her residence.

Born in Banner Elk, NC, she was the daughter of the late James David and Alice Maude Horney Horner. She moved Aiken in 1952 from Banner Elk, NC. She was a former member of Talatha Baptist Church. Mary was a homemaker who loved bird watching, reading, and working crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hall Lewis Jones, Sr., son, Hall Lewis Jones, Jr., grandson, David Jones, sister, Blanche Draughn. She is survived by her daughter, Patsy David Soper, Aiken; Chuck Martha Jones, Fairborn, OH; Bobby Janet Jones, Mocksville, NC; nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
