Mary Helen Porter

AIKEN, SC – Mary Helen Porter, age 65, entered into rest Wednesday, August 22, 2018.

Mary was born April 28, 1953 in Rochester, NY to the late William and Margarite Gerhardt. She had made Aiken, SC her home since 1974, having previously lived in Rochester, NY and then in Blacksburg, VA while in college. Mary was a master gardener and enjoyed embroidery and Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a grandson, Chase Allen Williamson. She is survived by her husband, Philip Porter Jr.; a daughter, Laura Shannon Williamson (Charles Jr.), Aiken, SC; two grandchildren, Luke Aaron Williamson and Abigail Layla Williamson; a sister, Ruthann LaForge and a brother, Thomas Gerhardt.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 13, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, Aiken. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
