Miriam Paula Johnson

A memorial service for Mrs. Miriam P. Johnson will be announced at a later date. Mrs. Johnson, 94, of Aiken, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at her residence. Memorial donations may be directed to Savannah River Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 3694, Aiken, SC 29802. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center 211 Park Ave. SW is assisting the Johnson family.

Born in Ishpeming, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Edwin Laituri and Aliini Lammi Laituri. She resided in Minneapolis, MN for many years and then lived in the Lake Worth, FL area before moving to Cumberland Village, Aiken, four years ago.

She retired in 1974 as a Fire/Casualty Underwriter for Western Mutual Insurance Company in Minneapolis, MN, where she had worked for many years. In retirement she was an avid golfer, scoring a hole-in-one and was also an accomplished bridge player.

In addition to her parents, she was pre deceased by her husband of 73 years, Arne A. Johnson, who died on February 23, 2008, a son, Edwin Johnson and her sister Ruth St. Martin.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Andrea Johnson, Aiken, daughter-in-law, Pat Johnson, Haines City, FL, two grandchildren; Terrance and Michelle Dennis, of Michigan, 3 great grandchildren; Jennifer Fulk, of Colorado, Janelle Fulk and Maggie Dennis of Michigan; a niece, Paula Brandt, Iowa and two nephews, Tom St. Martin, Michigan and Jim St. Martin, Washington.
