Miriam Lazette "Boots" Langford, 85, of Batesburg, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026. Born in Gilbert, SC, she was the daughter of the late LaVan Olin and Rozalia Duval Lewis. She was married to the late George Wayne Langford, Sr. Lazette was a longtime member of Clydes Chapel Southern Methodist Church, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and assisted with Vacation Bible School for many years. She had a deep love for her church and the children she taught.
She enjoyed working in her yard and took great pride in keeping it beautiful. She also dearly loved her dog, Cody. After retiring from Union Switch & Signal, she continued serving others by working in the cafeteria at Batesburg-Leesville schools, where she was grandma to many of the children she loved to spoil.
Lazette cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the greatest joy of her life. She spent time with them every day, and they always made her day brighter. She took great pride in loving and spoiling each one of them.
Surviving are her children, Sandy Taylor (Nelson), Skip Langford (Virgie), and Dennis Langford; grandchildren, David Taylor (Tera), Anna Cleary, Dana Spencer (Phillip), Ashley Langford (Nikki), Brian Langford (Viri), Van Hull (Johnny), and Brandon Bedenbaugh; along with 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Ann Lewis and brother-in-law, Jerry Price; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Nelson Taylor; and her siblings, Tommy, Billy, and Doug Lewis, Tissy Price, and Kathy Sharpe.
The funeral service to celebrate Lazette’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, at Clydes Chapel Southern Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 o'clock at the church. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clydes Chapel Southern Methodist Church, 2001 Spann Road, Batesburg, SC 29006.
