Natalie Smith Long

July 16, 1984 — February 2, 2026

Ward

In loving memory of Natalie Smith Long, a vibrant soul who graced this world with her warmth, faith, and infectious laughter. Natalie, 41, of Ward, South Carolina, passed away on February 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories.

Born on July 16, 1984, Natalie lived every single day to its absolute fullest. She was a woman of unwavering Christian faith, whose light shone brightly on everyone she encountered. Natalie never met a stranger; to know her was to have a friend for life. She was famously known for her gift of gab. She loved to talk, share stories, and truly connect with people, making sure everyone felt seen and heard.

A talented cosmetologist for over 20 years, Natalie didn't just style hair; she touched hearts. Her salon chair was a place of transformation, not just for the reflection in the mirror, but for the spirit. She was a confidante and a ray of sunshine to her many clients, greeting everyone with a smile that could light up the darkest room.

Above all, Natalie’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife and a fiercely loving mother who made it her mission to "never miss a chance to make a memory." Whether it was a grand celebration or a simple moment at home, she cherished every second spent with those she loved. She was a precious daughter, a supportive sister, and the "fun" aunt who always knew how to make life an adventure.

She leaves behind her loving husband of many years, Mitchell Harman Long, and their children: Myla Elizabeth Long and Jake Michael Long. She is also survived by her loving parents, Billy Joe and Cheryl Smith; her sister, Heather (Brad) Soper; her mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Wanda and Marvin Cromer; and her siblings-in-law, Brandon (Courtney) Long, Britt Long and Amber Kirkland. She leaves behind cherished nieces and nephew: Kristy, Emory, Taylor, and Beretta Long; Merideth, Landon, and Carley Soper. Natalie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Herbert and Evelyn Lybrand, her paternal grandparents, Griff C. Jr. and Faye Smith and her father-in-law, Michael C. Long. She also leaves behind a vast circle of extended family, dear friends, and clients who were like family, all of whom were touched by her boundless energy and generous spirit.

Natalie believed that life was a gift to be unwrapped and enjoyed daily. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she is in the arms of her Savior, likely catching up with everyone in Heaven and making them laugh.

A celebration of Natalie’s life will take place at 2:00 o'clock on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Richland Springs Baptist Church, 6595 Duncan Road, Ward, South Carolina. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Saluda Memorial Gardens, 3000 Richland Creek Road, Ward, South Carolina. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, 115 North Pine Street, Batesburg, South Carolina.

In honor of her spirit, her family asks that you live like Natalie: talk a little longer, hug a little tighter, and never miss a chance to make a memory.
