Olin Maybank Taylor

November 7, 1938 — October 19, 2025

Monetta

Olin Maybank Taylor, 86, of Monetta, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at his home. He was born in Lexington County to Callie and Bertha Rawl Taylor.

Maybank proudly served in the U.S. Army until September 1967. He later retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after 31 years of dedicated service. Maybank had a God-given gift for playing the piano—despite never taking a single lesson, he could play beautifully by ear every chance he got. After retirement, he and several musically talented friends formed a group called the Spirit Lifters. Together, they traveled to nursing homes, churches, and community centers, sharing joy and lifting spirits through good old-fashioned music.

In later years, he and his wife, Rosie, spent many happy seasons in North Carolina with their Maggie Valley family. Maybank had a deep, abiding faith in his Lord, which he expressed through a lifetime of thoughtful, selfless acts—and through his gift of laughter, which came most naturally to him. He deeply loved and adored his family and friends.

Maybank is survived by his children, Randy Taylor (Beverly) and Teresa Carroll; three grandchildren, Mallory Wise (Kevin), Megan Rush (Matt), and Dillon Carroll; and his great-grandchildren, Brooke and Jake Wise, and Hadley and McClain Rush. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Philip Taylor, Quinton Taylor, R.J. Taylor, C.L. Taylor, June Harmon, Vivian Amick, and Earlene Amick.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday, October 23rd, at First Calvary Baptist Church in Leesville, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be: Donnie Taylor, Andrew Fallaw, Ronnie Connelly, Tony Taylor, Fred Taylor, and Steve Ricard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army at 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769) or to The Connie Maxwell Children’s Home at https://conniemaxwell.com/give/
