Pamela Ann Schmitt, 72, of Lexington, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Born in Dearborn, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Cassie Abbott. Pam enjoyed many creative hobbies, including crocheting, beading, sewing, coloring, and working crosswords. She also loved tending to her garden, shopping for a good bargain, and affectionately annoying her sister in Texas. Growing up in Lincoln Park, Michigan, Pam attended many early performances by Bob Seger and remained a lifelong fan. After moving to South Carolina in 1991, she came to prefer the warmer weather that allowed her to spend more time in her garden. However, she always loved the rare Carolina Snow and was looking forward to seeing this recent winter storm. She got her wish and passed peacefully shortly after the snow began to fall.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Schmitt (Jessie), daughter, Bridget Terry (James); grandchildren, Pamela Rose Scheibler and River Cash Terry; her sister and best friend, Tricia Kessel (John); brother-in-law, Chuck Pasternak; and nieces and nephews, Greg, Julia, Philip, and Lauren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved ex-husband, Thomas Kline Schmitt; granddaughter, Aurora Schmitt; and sister, Diane Abbott.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Happy Wheels, Inc., in honor of her granddaughter, Aurora, P.O. Box 406, Lexington, SC 29071, or online at www.happywheels.org
