Patricia Helen Barnett

Ms. Patricia Helen Barnett, 67, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at her home in Aiken. Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. The Rev. Ella Breckenridge will officiate. Interment will be private. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken is assisting the family.

Ms. Barnett was born in West Sussex, England, the daughter of Tom and Mildred Barnett. She was raised at Stable Cottage, Knepp Castle, West Grinstead, West Sussex, England. She attended Brighton Technical College where she studied Hotel Bookkeeping and Management.

She worked in the hotel industry in England and Scotland, then lived and worked for many years in Bermuda. After leaving Bermuda, she continued to do hotel work in New Hampshire, San Francisco, and Georgia. In her later working life, she used her management skills combined with her compassion for others as a personal caregiver in many homes in Georgia and South Carolina. Ms. Barnett had a residence in Aiken for about the past ten years.

Preceded in death by her parents and a sister Angela, she is survived by her sister Susan Faires, nephews Christian and Dominic Faires, and a great niece Poppy Faires, all of England. She was cared for the last several months by beloved caregivers Audrey Hanna and Deloris Ware.

Ms. Barnett was very practical and enterprising. Her handmade ties are legendary! She enjoyed many arts and crafts, loved pets, traveled all over the world, and enjoyed people.
