Ray M. Fulmer

April 15, 1925 — August 2, 2011

Mr. Ray M. Fulmer, 86, of Wagener, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 10:30am at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave. SW with Pastor Virgil Parsons officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until the time of the service. Interment, with military honors will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.

The second youngest of eleven brothers and sisters, he was born in Salley, SC and was a son of the late Sammie Monroe Fulmer and Hattie Belle Brown Fulmer. At the age of seventeen, he volunteered for the US Army and served in the Engineering Corps during WW II, building bridges in Germany and being at some of the biggest battles in American Military history.

Upon returning from the war, he went to mechanic school and began to work for Holley Auto in Aiken. He then went to Owens Corning Fiberglas where he became an engineer/supervisor. He was a former deacon at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his wife Lucie Howie Fulmer and his ten siblings.

He is survived by his son, Gene Fulmer and his wife Pat, Nocona, TX; two granddaughters, April Lee Reed and Patricia "Tish" Jean Ayers and two great granddaughters.
