Robert Allen Hook

Robert Allen Hook, 74, of Gilbert, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Born in Lexington, SC, he was a son of the late Loyce and Mary Helen Smith Hook.

Mr. Hook served for many years with the South Carolina Department of Education, where he worked as a mechanic in the Lexington School Bus Shop on Barr Road. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as spending time doing mechanic work on the side. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his loving grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his children, Monica Ireton of Gilbert, and Richard "Ricky" Hook (Kristen) of Lexington; his beloved grandchildren, London and Brooklyn Harper, and Everest and Elijah Hook. Mr. Hook is also survived by his sisters, Donna Stewart of Lexington, Bonnie Meetze of Gilbert, Adlyne Day (Butch) and Lynn Clamp (Will) both of Leesville; and a brother, Russell Hook (Sarah) of Leesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Cole, Gloria Nausley, and Brenda Davis; and brothers, Jimmy and Tony Hook.

The memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hook will be held at 3 o'clock on Sunday, November 15th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, with Pastor Jud Hook officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2 o'clock.
