Rosa Bell Oswald

July 12, 1932 — June 3, 2022

Rosa B. Oswald, 89, of Gilbert, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, June 3, 2022. She was a loving mother and friend to all who knew her. Born in Gilbert, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lessie Lowman Amick. Mrs. Oswald was a retired Cafeteria Manager for Gilbert Elementary School.

Surviving are her brother, Newman Amick; as well as her children, Jerry Oswald (Gene), Diane Wells (Clint), Patsy Wessinger (Rhett), and Carol Hall. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Julian Edison Oswald; her grandson, Michael Oswald, and brothers Leo, John, and Julian Amick.

The service for Mrs. Oswald will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 7th at Grace Lutheran Church, 401 Main Street, Gilbert with Pastor Judson Merrell officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall. Serving as pallbearers will be: Craig Hall, Lee Youmans, Skip Price, Shawn Torbett, Andy Taylor, and Dalton Welch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to Grace Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 333, Gilbert, SC 29054 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (www.michaeljfox.org) Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777.

The family wishes to thank Mrs. Oswald’s caretaker, Mrs. Wilma Abney, for her devotion and loving care, as well as MSA Hospice Care.
