Ruth Wingard White, 98, of Hendersonville, NC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Born on February 18, 1927, in Lexington County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Neely B and Bessie Keisler Wingard. Ms. White was a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC, and the Patience Sunday School Class. She enjoyed music and flowers as well as reading. She also enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. Ruth graduated from the University of South Carolina and became a teacher. Wilmington, North Carolina, was her home for 26 years, where she retired from teaching. She also taught in Marshall, North Carolina, Lenoir, North Carolina, and Newport News, Virginia. Ruth became interested in alternative energy and won awards and recognition for her work with Solar Energy, including the Governor's Energy Achievement Award in 1981. She started the Solar Club in Wilmington, NC, worked with the Cooperative Extension in school, and on TV to educate people about savings with solar energy.

Surviving are her nieces, Rachel Hite McCartha (Henry), Vernelle Kyzer Daggerhart (Bobby), Marie Gardner Trussel (Terry), and Linda Senn Shealy (John); as well as many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. White was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosalee Wingard, Mernice Wingard, Doris Kyzer (Julian), Daphinee Senn (Wilbert), Naomi Hite (Hoyt), and Blanch Gardner (L W); and nephews, Raymond Kyzer, Paul Ray Kyzer, Carlton Gardner, Jimmy Gardner, and Larry Senn.

The graveside service to celebrate Ms. White's life will be held at 3 P.M., on Wednesday, June 18th, at Boiling Springs Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jud Hook officiating. The family would like to thank the neighbors who helped Ruth these last years, Terry Summer and Bev Andrews, as well as Sharon Roberts and Jeanette Lane, helpers who became family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boiling Springs Methodist Church, 2373 Calks Ferry Road, Lexington, SC 29073.
