Sally Ruth Kirkland

Sally Ruth Kirkland, 85, of Batesburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Born in Orangeburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Olin Busbee and Lillian Katherine Williamson Chavis. Sally was married to the late George Harvey Kirkland.

Sally's faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Nazareth Methodist Church and also enjoyed worshiping at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Sally loved baking cakes and pies, caring for her flowers, and spending time embroidering.

Surviving are her daughters, Lillian Reeves and Amy Price (Chris); grandchildren, Renee, Buck, Jason, Cody, Jammie, James III, Christopher, Sussie, Dixie, Nicholas, Damian, Tenna, Kyleigh, Jacob, and Levi; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Ruby Sturkie, Rose Gunter, and Rebecca Riley; sister-in-law, Bessie King; along with many extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Kay.

The funeral service for Mrs. Kirkland will be held at 2 o’clock on Monday, November 3rd, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg Chapel, with burial immediately following in Nazareth Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Freeman and the Rev. Rodger Phillips will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 o’clock. Active pallbearers will be: Jason Evans, Buck Evans, Chris Reeves, Nick Reeves, Levi Price, and Brady Davis.
