Samuel Cruz Gaztambide

Samuel Cruz Gaztambide, 86, of Leesville, SC, formerly of Rincón, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2026, surrounded by family.  Born on May 1, 1939, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Juan and Dominga Cruz.

Samuel was known for his unwavering faith in God, his quiet generosity and his devotion to his family. He was a kind of gentle soul who loved to joke and play dominos with his family. He was loved by everyone who met him.

He is survived by his sisters, Norma, Raquel and Elizabeth; along with many beloved nieces and nephews and numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth; and brother, Juan Francisco.

A celebration of life will be held with family at a later date.  Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is assisting the family.

Samuel will be deeply missed and forever remembered. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and strength.
