Sandra Whitman Hartley

Sandra Whitman Hartley, 82, of Batesburg, passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2025. Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late George L. and Gertye Padgett Whitman. Sandra's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the nurturing of family, friends, and her community. Throughout her life, Sandra was dedicated to her work as a Cafeteria Manager with the Lexington 3 School System, where she was known for her kindness and unwavering commitment to making every student feel valued and cared for. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Sandra spent her life caring for those around her with an open heart and ready smile. Sandra also loved lighthouses and traveled up and down the east coast to see many. A strong woman who taught her children and grandchildren to enjoy nature, and take in all of God's creation.

She is survived by her son, Michael Hartley, and daughters, Dena Smith (David) and Heather Hartley. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Megan Hartley, Maggie Hartley (Brandon Mills), Mason Hartley, and MaKale Culler, as well as her step-grandchildren, Lindsey Sherman (Chris), Jena Garcia (Giovanni), Sammi Smith (Thomas), and Harley Smith. Sandra was also a proud great-grandmother to Travis Hartley and Gracelyn Mills. She is fondly remembered by her sister, Ruby Swygert (Ross), and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Sandra is reunited in spirit with her parents, her beloved husband, Mack Charles Hartley, and her siblings, Lester Whitman (Dorothy), Elmo Whitman (Betty), Vera Gleaton (Johnny), and Loretta Price (Clyverd), who preceded her in death.

In keeping with Sandra's wishes, no formal services will be held, allowing her family and friends to remember her in their own ways, cherishing personal memories and reflecting on the profound impact she had on the lives of those she touched.
