Sandra Leigh Hawkins

Sandra Leigh Hawkins, 80, of Batesburg, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025. Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Lee and Katie Lou Hendrix Koon. Sandra was a faithful member of Praise Church and a devout Christian. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like working on puzzles, cross-stitching, and collecting Hallmark ornaments and baskets. Sandra especially loved trips to the mountains, where she found peace and joy in nature.

Surviving are her loving husband of 62 years, L.C. “Buck” Hawkins; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Julie Hawkins; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. David and Brenda Koon; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jessie Thompson (W.O.). She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Donnie Koon, Robert Koon, Lavada Wessinger, Kathleen Haltiwanger, and Virginia Pugh.

A family memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10th, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Mims officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Praise Church.
