Sarah Friar Barfield

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Sarah F. Barfield will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 10am at Bethany Cemetery with Dr. George Howle officiating. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Barfield, 89, of Aiken, died July 9, 2007, the day after her 89th birthday. A daughter of the late William Fletcher Friar and Mary Elizabeth Beaton Friar, she was born in Aiken County, where she had lived most of her life. She was a retired bookkeeper, having worked at the Graniteville Company and at Pepperidge Farms and was a long time member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Aiken.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas Barfield, who died in 1968 and a sister, Lena Mae Bates. She is survived by a sister; Lucy Lybrand, Johnston, SC, two nieces; Mary Abney Towns, North Augusta and Faye Abney Keller, Aiken. She is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews
