Shirley Edwards Fincher, 76, of Saluda, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. Born in Saluda, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Pickens Edwards and Mattie Thelma Black Edwards Langford. Shirley was the proud owner and operator of The Stop and Shop and Shirley’s Restaurant in Saluda, where her good food and kind heart made everyone feel at home. She loved traveling to the mountains and spending sunny days at the beach. Known to everyone as “Mama Shirley,” she adored her grandboys and cherished every moment spent with them. Shirley had a sweet tooth for Reese’s Cups and a love for cooking that she shared generously with family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Jessie Alton “Shorty” Fincher; grandchildren, Jesson, Tracen, Ryland, and Brice; and daughters-in-law, Wendi Fincher Miller (Ritchie) and Kendra Anderson; siblings, Judy Edwards Price, Janice Patrick and Mark Edwards (Carla); along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sons, Stacey and Tracey Fincher and brother, Leonard "Bug" Edwards.
The graveside service for Mrs. Shirley will be held at 1 o'clock on Saturday, November 22nd in Edwards Family Cemetery, 2144 Forrest Hills Road, Saluda, SC 29138. The Rev. Burton Campbell will officiate.
