Shirley Jean Hammett Orvin

A memorial service for Mrs. Shirley Jean Hammett Orvin will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at 11 AM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC with Rev. Dr. W.C. Lowe officiating.

Mrs. Orvin, 71, of Trenton, SC, died Sunday, afternoon, May 1, 2005 at Pepperhill Nursing Center, Aiken, SC.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter of Thelma King Hammett, Spartanburg, SC and the late Fred Hammett, she had been a resident of Lexington, SC prior to relocating to Trenton, SC in 2000. Mrs. Orvin had formerly been a Legal Secretary and was a Housewife and Mother. She enjoyed reading, painting, and interior decorating.

She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, James Wesley Orvin, a son, John Wesley Orvin, Trenton, SC; daughters, Clare Margaret Orvin, West Columbia, SC and Elisabeth Elrod, Randy Leesville, SC; and a granddaughter, Brooke Elisabeth Ayers, Leesville, SC.
