Twyla Marie Noles, lovingly known as "Marie" to her family and friends, passed away peacefully at her home on June 4, 2026, at the age of 83. During her time of need, Marie was lovingly cared for by her devoted daughter, Angela, whose dedication and compassion brought comfort to her final days.
Born on August 25, 1942, in Columbia, South Carolina, Marie was the daughter of the late Malcus Eugene Stokes and Omar Stokes. She lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering faith, and a deep love for her family.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reed Noles, with whom she shared many cherished years and built a loving family. She was also preceded in death by two of her children, Paul Anthony Stokes in 2009 and Barbie Craver in 2021.
She is survived by her children, Angela Michelle Branham and Lewis Reed Noles, Jr. (Angie). Marie leaves behind a legacy of love through her 13 grandchildren; Jacqueline Browder, Alex Tison, Nikki Branham(Marvin Mavins), Damon Branham, Cody Stokes, Brittany Hendrex, Megan Stokes, Jamie Hendrex III, Parker Blackwell, Rafe Blackwell, Madeline Noles, Cameron Noles, and Ella Noles; and her great-grandchildren, McKinley, Jace, Dawson, Anna, Zoey, Wyatt, Aubree, Kaiya, Kalani, MJ, Briella, Elijah, Jacob, Landyn, Hunter, and Mason. Her family was further blessed by 16 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Marie was also surrounded throughout her life by many extended family members, dear friends, and loved ones who enriched her journey and will continue to cherish her memory.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Marie began working at just fourteen years old and continued until her retirement around the age of seventy. She spent her final working years employed with a cleaning service before retiring. Her strong work ethic, determination, and resilience were qualities she carried throughout her life.
Faith was an important part of Marie's life. She attended church and held a steadfast belief that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. Her faith provided strength, guidance, and comfort throughout her life's journey.
Family was at the center of everything Marie did. She loved family outings, trips to the beach, playing bingo, dancing, and gathering everyone together for family dinners at her home. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever cherish the memories she created, especially the holidays she made so magical and special year after year.
Those who knew Marie will remember her as full of life—spunky, bold, loving, generous, outspoken, and hardworking. She never hesitated to remind those she loved to always look their best and present themselves well. If your hair was out of place or your outfit needed attention, Marie would be sure to let you know. It was her way of showing she cared.
While her family mourns her passing, they also celebrate a life well lived and a woman whose love, strength, traditions, and spirit will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.
A celebration of Marie's life will be held at a later date. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel, is serving the Noles family.
