Vivan Lucas Mosley, 99, of Leesville, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Born in Choctaw County, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late John Whittle and Lillie Martin Lucas. She was married to the late James F. Mosley, Sr.

Vivan was a devoted member of Radius Church, White Knoll, where she loved attending and being a part of her church family. She had a love for the outdoors and was always happiest when she could be outside. Full of life and determination, Vivan continued climbing trees until she was 90 years old, a true reflection of her adventurous spirit and remarkable independence.

Surviving are her daughters, Judith Ann Shumpert and Tracey Annette Corder; grandchildren, Jimmy Mosley (Angie), Marty Mosley, Dawn Bickley (Hayward), Alysia Jeffcoat (Barrett), Linda Chapman (Daniel), Gina Flood, Shannon Mosley, Lillie Leaphart, and Colby Leaphart; great-grandchildren, Ashley May, Coleman Ricard (Anna), Brandon Mosley (Ashley), Brian Mosley (Abby), Samantha Mosley, Isabella Mosley, Ethan Chapman, Madison Flood, Grayson Flood, Olivia Flood, Maryn Tucker, and Riley Skochin; and great-great-grandchildren, James May, Vivianna May, Walter Ricard, Baron Mosley, and Emily Mosley. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Shirley Mosley. In addition to her parents and husband, Vivan was preceded in death by her sons, James F. Mosley, Jr., Gerald Floyd Mosley, and Timothy Wayne Mosley; grandson, Jackie Cheeks; and siblings, Roy Lucas, Edward Lucas, and Gladys Lee.

A graveside service celebrating Vivan’s life will be held at 4 o’clock on Monday, August 31st, at Pauline Church of Christ Cemetery, with Pastor John Ptak officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville Chapel. Active pallbearers will be: Coleman Richard, Colby Leahpart, Brandon Mosley, Brian Mosley, Jimmy Mosley and Phoenix Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be: Marty Mosley, James May and Hunter Woods-Mitchum.
