Born in Augusta, GA and a lifelong resident of Jackson, SC, he was a retired painter. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
A son, Craig Mercer, Augusta, GA; daughter, Cindy Mercer, Stapleton, GA; and sisters, Carolyn Deas, Augusta, GA and Linda Tate, Columbia, SC, survive.
