William “Bill” Perry, Jr., 86, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born on January 26, 1939, in Huntington, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Helen Bird and William Perry, Sr. At the early age of 18, Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, beginning a career marked by discipline and service. His path eventually led him to work with the United States Secret Service, where he was entrusted with protecting public officials, including Vice President George H. W. Bush. He took pride in his role and the responsibility it carried.
Bill had a lifelong interest in military history, particularly firearms and military weaponry, and he enjoyed maintaining an extensive gun collection. He also loved sports, especially football, and music, which remained steady companions throughout his life.
Surviving are his sons, William R. Perry, of Georgia, Robert “Brian” Perry, of Florida, and Christopher Steven Perry, of Texas; grandchildren: Alyssa and Gabby Perry, Carson Perry, and Cameron Perry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Johnson, with whom he shared many memories from their earlier years.
No formal services will be held at the request of Mr. Perry.
In recognition of Bill’s military service, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
