William Earl Russ Jr.

William Earl Russ Jr., 71, of Lexington, passed away Friday morning October 31, 2025 at Lexington Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Columbia, SC he was a son of the late Ruth Shirley Russ and William E. Russ, Sr. He was a Civil Engineer with the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Bill loved traveling and spending time in a library. He also authored several books on history, specializing on World War II. He had a vast knowledge of many subjects and was an avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lois Williamson; his parents, his brother, Stuart; and his sister, Karen.

The graveside service for Mr. Russ will be held at 2 o'clock on Monday, November 3rd at Jackson Memorial Park, Jackson, SC with Gary Williamson officiating. The family will greet friends following at the graveside. Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Aiken Chapel is assisting the family.
